Kyra Jasper, from Cary, North Carolina, is studying History with Minor in Human Rights from Stanford University. She has founded the Stanford Southeast Asia Forum, one of the first undergraduate-led organizations focused on studying and facilitating collaboration between the region in the United States. Kyra has also learned the Bahasa Indonesian language through the Boren Scholarship in 2020 and has continued her study through the Critical Language Scholarship in 2021. She is currently trial monitoring a case of alleged gross human rights violations that occurred in Paniai, Papua in Indonesia’s Human Rights Court in Makassar, Indonesia while working as a junior Researcher at the Indonesian Institute for an Independent Judiciary. Kyra will pursue a MA degree in International Law at SOAS, University of London and an MSc degree in International and Asian History at the London School of Economics and Political Science as a Marshall Scholar.
